We’ll ride a range of trail styles and surfaces from flowing cross-country descents to more technical features on sandstone “slickrock.” This trip is designed for the intermediate to experienced rider comfortable on single track and familiar with small technical features.

Q: When’s the best time to go on this trip?
A: The spring and fall are ideal times to visit southern Utah with comfortable temperatures and plenty of sun during the day followed by cool nights perfect for camping. You can expect potentially quite warm afternoons during any scheduled summer departures in which we do our best to ride during cooler portions of the day. The semi-arid region calls for plenty of sunscreen and an extra bottle of water wherever possible.
Q: What are the rides like and how do I train for the trip?
A: This trip is designed for the intermediate rider with previous experience on singletrack and technical features. You can expect sections of trail to contain small step ups and drops, steep pitches on slickrock, and occasional narrow trails with varying degrees of exposure. If you’re unsure about any section of trail throughout the trip, walking your bike is always an acceptable option. The best way to prepare for this trip is to spend time on your bike and on trails. Working on developing your handling, cornering, and balance will significantly increase your enjoyment on this tour.
Q: What sort of accommodations are included on this trip?
A: AOA can provide spacious nylon tents with a full-coverage rain fly for rental. Each tent is designed for and can accommodate 4 people, although we recommend using it for just one or two people to allow for extra space for gear and personal items. AOA can also rent thick, inflatable sleeping pads, sleeping bags, daypacks, trekking poles, bikes, and more! The AOA kitchen is fully equipped to allow our guides to prepare healthy, fresh meals. Guests will be provided with all dishware and utensils needed for meals.
The camp is surrounded by towering sandstone and limestone cliffs nestled along the Virgin River. Located near a number of national parks such as Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and the Grand Canyon North Rim, you can easily extend your vacation to other popular Southwest destinations.

Bike Rental Options
This trip does not include a rental bike. AOA offers rental mountain bikes in various performance levels. Each bike rental includes a helmet and flat repair kit. You are welcome to bring your own pedals and saddle to use with our rental bikes.

Reservations, Payments and Cancellation
AOA’s cycling tours are very popular and advanced planning is often necessary. We recommend making your reservations at least 3 to 5 months in advance. We can accommodate last-minute bookings provided space is available, so please call our office to check. Each trip requires a minimum number of participants for departure. Arizona Outback Adventures (AOA) reserves the right to cancel scheduled trips that do not meet minimum sign-up requirements.
We strongly recommend that you purchase “travel insurance.” This is a valuable tool that will protect your trip investment.

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO HURRICANE, UT
7:00am – Meet your guides in the lobby of our Las Vegas host hotel. After a quick meet and greet, we’ll transfer to the town of Hurricane, Utah where we’ll dial in our bikes and set out for our first taste of the incredible JEM Trails network. After a trailside picnic lunch, we’ll head to our camp and enjoy our first night together under the stars surrounded by sandstone and limestone cliffs. Our scrumptious guide-prepared meals will leave you fueled and ready for your next three days exploring southern Utah.

DAY 2: HURRICANE RIM AND JEM TRAILS
Today’s ride offers up a bit of everything from intermediate technical trails on slickrock to sandy, flowing cross-country trails, and everything in between. Ride along expansive ridges peering down to the Virgin River as you test your bike handling skills and learn some new tips and tricks along the way. We’ll spend a majority of the day riding with a fresh lunch and plenty of snacks to keep you feeling strong. With plenty of bailout spots to shorten the ride as well as options for more miles, there is no shortage of trails to find the best ride for your fitness and ability.

DAY 3: GOOSEBERRY MESA
Wake up to the smell of a hot breakfast as we prepare for day three of riding in mountain bike paradise. Today we’ll shuttle to the Gooseberry Mesa trail system located on a tabletop formation known for its winding slickrock trails through stands of juniper trees and for its expansive vistas. Now that you’ve had a couple of days to warm up to the trail surfaces and slickrock, you can hone your riding style and learn to flow on these fun, challenging trails. We’ll have plenty of time to stay and play and soak up the views before returning to camp.

DAY 4: GUACAMOLE TRAIL AND RETURN TO LAS VEGAS, NV
Our last day of riding brings us to the Guacamole trail system. Located on the western border of Zion National Park, it features great views of Zion and similar style trails to Gooseberry. This less-traveled trail network will have you feeling like you’re on a roller coaster with plenty of ups and downs and twists and turns. After a picnic lunch, we’ll pack up and begin our journey back to Las Vegas.
